Projects
This page presents Magnus Båge's various music projects, ranging from international festivals to children's concerts and innovative collaborations. The projects document his diverse activities in jazz, classical music, children's culture and product development from 2008 to 2015.
Magnus Båge’s project portfolio shows a broad artistic activity that includes both national and international collaborations, from festivals in Italy such as Pietrasanta and concerts at Villa San Michele to Swedish initiatives such as the CD release “SATORI” with Lars Jansson. His children’s music project with TrioX and Matilda Bådagård, based on texts by Karin Andersen and Lennart Hellsing, has resulted in successful tours and performances such as “Solen strålar ner på dig”. In addition to the purely musical projects, Magnus has developed innovative tools for flutists, including “Expression Slide” for new sound possibilities and “Fluteup” as an ergonomic aid for practice. His collaborations range from classical chamber music projects with Uppsala Kammarsolister to experimental performances such as “Midnight Blue” in Brussels, which reflects his openness to different musical expressions and art forms.

“The sun shines down on you”
The first children’s concert in October 2015 with Matilda Bådagård and TrioX was magical! One of the first songs I wrote together with the lyricist Karin Andersen is “Solen strålar ner på dig” and that is also the name of our performance. The sun really shone down on all of us and especially on Matilda, magical! We have another week of concerts and the children are fantastic… I played with the famous jazz trio “Trio X” on a selection day in October and several of the country’s organizers are now working to get us out and play the songs around the country with our music…
Tour with TrioX and Matilda Bådagård
Now we are finally going on tour with Karin Andersen and my children’s songs! We will be performing in Sörmland County from October 12th to 22nd.
New CD – SATORI
I am proud and happy to announce that a three-year project is now complete! I will be releasing the CD SATORI with jazz pianist Lars Jansson on Prophone Records in January 2015. The CD can be ordered at magnus@magnusbage.com. I would like to thank Bertil Hansson for his beautiful art that adorns the cover and Karin Andersen for her fine work with the CD overall. My children’s songs with Trio X!
I played with the famous jazz trio “Trio X” on a selection day in October and several of the country’s organizers are now working to get us out and play the songs around the country with our music-interested children. We are also working on an upcoming CD with the children’s songs that we believe will be ready by spring 2015! The author Karin Andersen and Lennart Hellsing have written the lyrics to the songs. Children’s concerts!
Hello again! In February 2012, my colleague Kai Sundquist and I will be going up to Sundsvall to do school concerts for children aged 7-10. It will be very fun and exciting to see if our performance is well received. Children are very fun to work with! The Performing Arts Company is behind this tour that lasts the whole week. Warm regards, Magnus
Evert Taube Audiobook
On September 24th I was at a release that the book publisher Max Ström organized. I played about 10 songs in the book and it was a true joy to participate! It was also really fun to meet Sven-Bertil Taube and tell him that I have been playing his father’s songs for the last 25 years in all sorts of different contexts. Thank you Martin Östergren and the book publisher Max Ström for letting me participate in this historic book!
Mämus
On Saturday, April 13, 2014, I will conduct my friend Jonas Dominique’s bass concerto together with “Mämus”. We will also play the first movement of Brahms’s second symphony. Thank you Göran for your nice photos!
At first there was only silence
The multi-winder/pedagogue Kai Sundquist and I have written the script, music and direction for a new children’s performance/concert with Scenkonstbolaget in Sundsvall as co-producer and organizer. Together with the fine coaching of theater educator Annelie Arfmann, we have now produced a performance that we will perform in November 2013 around Sundsvall. The content of the performance is very broad, we play all possible types of music; jazz, classical, film music, folk music and much more. We weave together an exciting story about where music comes from and why it is so important to us humans! See the presentation here: http://youtu.be/Oyy6h_hSbGs
Expression Slide
See my “Expression slide” below. I describe a new type of mouthpiece that I have developed to create more artistic possibilities for new timbres and sounds. It is fantastic for Asian timbres and of course for Jazz. I use it in “Shimmering Blue”, among other things.

Fluteup
Fluteup is a strap that helps tired shoulders and arms and creates relief for the body. I created “Fluteup” when I started to notice tension in my neck and shoulders when I practiced. This is not unique to flutists. Uncomfortable working positions and long working hours are tempting. For me, Fluteup has become a great help when I practice.
Shimmering Blue
MARTINSSON’S FLUTE CONCERT IN NOVEMBER 2008 On November 13th at 6:00 PM, Magnus will play the flute concerto Shimmering Blue by Rolf Martinsson together with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra in the Stockholm Concert Hall during the composers’ festival there. The concert will be repeated on Friday, November 14th at 7:30 PM in the Gävle Concert Hall.
Stardust
Concerts with Magnus Båge and Jacques Werup, Tour with Music in Gävleborg autumn 2010 The performance was about how we humans meet, seemingly randomly. I had the pleasure of presenting the world violinist Michael Guttman, the poet & entertainer Jaques Werup, the bassist & arranger Jonas Dominique, the pianist Karin Haglund. With the concert we wanted to brighten up the beginning of autumn darkness with a wide mix of music. We performed music by, among others, Jaques Brel, Jonas Dominique, Jaques Werup and Henri Dutilleux.
Midnight Blue
Magnus participated in an exciting performance project in Brussels in 2010 called “Midnight Blue”. Watch the performance on YouTube [fvplayer src=”%E2%80%9Dhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boHS_bnBkgQ%E2%80%9D” splash=””https://magnusbage.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/midnightblue2-1.jpg””]
San Michele
Villa San Michele In June 2008 I had the opportunity to play on Capri in Italy. The San Michele Foundation was founded in 1950 with the aim of managing the property donated by Axel Munthe. The aim was to promote cultural relations between Sweden and Italy. Every year several concerts are offered at San Michele for residents and visitors to the island. Together with pianist Karin Haglund, I performed Rolf Martinsson’s flute concerto “Shimmering Blue” in a small chapel with a fantastic view of the sea. Since 1978, about ten scholarships have been awarded each year from the Cederström-Wallengren Scholarship Fund for short-term work stays at Villa San Michele. I can highly recommend it to anyone who…
Pietrasanta
In the spring of 2008 I played at the Swedish embassy in Brussels. I met Michael Guttman who after the concert invited me to the music festival in Pietrasanta, which is located near Pisa in Italy. Guttman himself started the festival and people of all ages are attracted to the concerts. I played Mozart – Concerto in D major and a Vivaldi concerto with Michael and the Brussels Chamber Orchestra. Jonas Dominque also wrote the fantastic extra number “Encore” for this occasion.
